Privacy Policy

Effective July 7, 2026 · Applies to the Axis iOS app and this website.

No ads, no trackers

The app contains zero advertising and zero analytics SDKs. Nothing follows you around.

Photos stay on your phone

Progress photos are stored only on your device. They are never uploaded anywhere.

Delete everything, anytime

One tap in the app deletes your account and every piece of synced data with it.

Who this is

Axis is made by Eric Hunsicker, an independent developer. This policy explains what data the app handles, why, and what happens to it. If anything here is unclear, email eric@erichunsicker.com and you'll get an answer from the person who wrote the code.

What the app collects

Your account

Signing in takes one thing: your email address. That's the whole account. No name, no birthday, no phone number. The email exists so your data can back itself up and follow you to your next phone.

What you log

The point of the app is logging, so the app stores what you log: workouts and sets, meals and portions, habits, body measurements, and training programs. This data syncs to your account so it survives a lost or new phone. It belongs to you, and you can export or delete it at any time.

Progress photos

Progress photos are stored only on your device. They are never uploaded to any server, including ours. If you delete the app, they go with it. The only way a photo leaves your phone is if you personally choose to share or export it.

Apple Health

If you connect Apple Health, the app asks for read-only access to exactly four things: steps, body weight, resting heart rate, and heart rate variability. Imported values are stored alongside your own logs. The app never writes to Apple Health, and you can disconnect it in your iPhone's Settings at any time.

Health data gets an extra promise, in line with Apple's rules: it is never used for advertising or marketing, never sold, and never shared with third parties. Full stop.

Camera and calendar

The app asks for camera access only to take progress photos, which stay on your device as described above. It asks for calendar access only if you choose to add your workout schedule to your calendar; it creates those events and reads nothing else. Both permissions are optional, and the app works without them.

The feature board

The in-app feature board is the one shared space in the app. Feature requests you post and votes you cast are visible to other Axis users. Posts are not shown with your email or any profile; they are tied to an internal account ID. Don't post anything on the board you wouldn't want public.

Nothing else

The app has no advertising, no analytics SDKs, and no third-party trackers. It doesn't log your location, doesn't read your contacts, and doesn't fingerprint your device. If the app ever adds a diagnostic tool, it will be opt-in and this policy will say so first.

The optional AI generator

The app includes an optional workout generator that uses your own Anthropic API key. If you turn it on, the preferences you type (like goals, available equipment, and schedule) are sent to Anthropic to generate the workout. Your key is stored in your device's secure storage and is never sent to us. If you never set up this feature, nothing is ever sent to Anthropic.

Where your data lives

Synced data is stored and moved by two service providers acting on the app's behalf:

  • Supabase handles sign-in and hosts the database your logs back up to.
  • PowerSync moves data between your device and that database so the app works offline.

Data is encrypted in transit, your sign-in session is encrypted at rest on your device, and server-side access rules ensure your logs are readable by your account only. These providers process data solely to run the app; they don't get to use it for anything else.

Who your data is shared with

Short version: nobody, beyond the two providers above that make the app work. Specifically:

  • Your data is never sold and never handed to advertisers or data brokers.
  • Feature board posts and votes are visible to other users, as described above.
  • Anything you personally export or share (a photo, a share card, a data export) goes wherever you send it.
  • If the law ever compels disclosure, only what is legally required would be provided.

Purchases

Any purchase in the app is processed by Apple through the App Store. Payment details like your card number go to Apple, not to us; the app only learns whether your purchase is active.

Export and deletion

Export: you can export your full history from inside the app at any time. It's your training, not our inventory.

Deletion: the app has a built-in delete account option. Using it permanently removes your account and all synced data from the server, and wipes the app's data on your device. There's no email-us-and-wait process, though you're welcome to email eric@erichunsicker.com for help. Data is kept only as long as you keep your account.

Children

Axis is not directed at children under 13, and the app doesn't knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has created an account, email the address below and it will be deleted.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes in a way that matters, the effective date above will change and significant updates will be flagged inside the app. The current version always lives at this page.
